Vacancy Description

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has a good planning service which we are aiming to transform to excellent.

The Royal Borough has recently undertaken a very successful recruitment campaign and following the promotion of the previouspost holder we currently have a vacancy for a Planning Officer.

This post would be suitable for planners looking for their first career appointment or experienced planning officers looking to take their next steps in a very interesting Borough.

Windsor and Maidenhead is an economically resilient and growing Borough. Located within easy access of Central London it is an attractive place for business growth and investment. The two main towns have different planning pressures; there is the culture and heritage of Windsor and the regeneration of Maidenhead. There are also smaller towns and villages, many located in the green belt, where the pressure of development is of concern to local people.

This is a good place to live and work. There are excellent transport connections to London and the West of England, with the new Elizabeth Line opening in Maidenhead in 2019.

We are a busy service dealing with over 3500 planning decisions a year. You would be dealing with a range of planning cases and will gain great experience in this role.

The council is set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse and with the Royal Family on the doorstep, the borough will be playing a major part in the Royal Wedding later in the year.

If you wish to discuss this position informally please contact either: Sian Saadeh, Development Management Team Manager on 01628 796164 or Ashley Smith, Deputy Head of Planning, on 01628 796954.
